Genova is a city of contrasts: it's a city of art as well as an industrial city. It has glass skyscrapers and medieval towers, business centres and unspoiled historic sites. Genoa is one of Italy’s most important ports that now accommodates Europe’s largest aquarium and the largest maritime history museum in the Mediterranean. Strolling down its narrow, twisting lanes, known as caruggi, visitors will discover architectural gems, some excellent museums and art galleries. Porta Soprana, the best known gate in the ancient Genoa city walls, gives way to the Piazza de Ferrari, with its Palace of the Doges and the Opera House. Along the Strade Nuove, a stunning avenue listed as a World Heritage Site, is where we find the Palazzi dei Rolli, a roster of aristocratic homes that are a reminder of the city’s imperial past. Genoa is an elusive and secretive city, it will take you to great bars, share its cuisine and give you a glimpse of culture, but it’ll have to get to know you first.

la spezia, italy
Ankomst: 08:00 - Avgång: 18:00
The city of La Spezia is located in the region of Liguria in northern Italy and is also the capital of the province of the same name, set on the Gulf of La Spezia, also known as the Golfo dei Poeti (Gulf of Poets). It earned this name because it was, for a time, home to important English poets such as Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822) and George Byron (1788–1824). The city has a major commercial port, one of the most important in Italy, and it is also home to one of the country’s largest military industries: OTO Melara. Although La Spezia is mainly a modern city (most of its buildings were constructed after 1920), there are many places of interest in the surrounding area. Nearby you’ll find beautiful villages such as Lerici, Portovenere (a traditional fishing village), and the Cinque Terre, where a national nature park has been established. Cinque Terre, Portovenere and the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Capri is a stunning picturesque retreat located 5 km from mainland Italy in the Bay of Naples. It's a renowned beauty spot and coastal resort since the time of the emperors. It's a very popular destination due to what it has to offer and that is its rural charm, slow pace of life and unforgettable views. Capri has constant sunshine and enjoys its well deserved reputation as a Garden of Eden. Capri town is the main settlement on the island and can be reached via a funicular railway that runs from the dock in Marina Grande. The town's main square, Piazza Umberto, is a bustling central area that contains a few shops, cafes and restaurants and is where the funicular railway ends. Surrounding the square are the ''Torre dell'Orologio'', or Clock Tower and the island's main church, San Stefano. Anacapri is the island's second largest settlement and lies a couple of miles west of Capri town. Anacapri offers visitors many art and craft shops and also the opportunity to enjoy a trip on a chair lift up to the summit of Mount Solaro.

Messina is located in the northeast of Sicily, Italy. It's only a 5 km journey across the Straits of Messina to the region of Calabria on the mainland. It's the third largest city on the island of Sicily. Trips by land and sea allow for the exploration of every nook and cranny of the Aeolian Islands, abundant with beaches and small coves where one can pause to explore, even if just for a few hours. The active volcano, Mt. Etna, towers over the landscape and reveals a vegetation interrupted by trails of black, solidified lava flows. Caves and varying environments alternate along its slopes; traverse them to reach the peak, where a large "mouth of fire" awaits. A definite must-see is Pollara Beach on the island of Salina; Pollara was created by a crater formed by the six volcanoes that make up Salina, around 13,000 years ago. The Ancient Theatre, one of the greatest of the Greek-Roman era, is nestled in a spread of olive, orange and almond groves that fill the air with their exotic scents.

Passing Stromboli Island
Ankomst: 20:00 - Avgång: 21:00
Stromboli is a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, and is home to Mount Stromboli, one of Italy’s three active volcanoes. It is one of the eight Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc to the north of Sicily. Strabo wrote that people once believed this was where Aeolus lived. Its name comes from the Ancient Greek Strongýlē, itself from στρογγύλος (strongýlos, “round”), in reference to the volcano’s round, conical shape when seen from a distance. The island’s population was about 500 in 2016. The volcano has erupted many times and remains constantly active with minor eruptions, often visible from many parts of the island and from the surrounding sea, earning it the nickname “the Lighthouse of the Mediterranean.”

Ankomst: 08:00 - Avgång: 17:00
Toulon is a medium-sized city between Marseille and Nice. It lies on the western end of the French Riviera, in the southeast of Provence. Toulon’s history goes back about three thousand years. The vieille ville was built in the Middle Ages, and the historic centre is located just north of the harbour, with very narrow, winding streets. The harbour and its promenade are lined with souvenir shops, cafés and fish restaurants. Key sights in Toulon include the Tour de l’Horloge, a monumental clock at the entrance to the naval base, and the Church of Saint François de Paule. Built in the 18th century, it is a fine example of typical Baroque style. Place Puget, in the historic centre, is the old heart of the town and features a fountain dating from 1780. It’s a pleasant, shady spot to sit at a café on a hot afternoon. Nearby is the Sainte Marie de la Seds Cathedral, begun in the 11th century. Although it was never fully completed, it was widened in 1738 and now houses several notable 18th-century paintings. Beautiful beaches can be found in the small towns surrounding Toulon.

The Darkest Point of the Ligurian Sea
Ankomst: 23:30 - Avgång: 00:30
Liguria is a long, narrow stretch of coastline in north‑west Italy, running from the French border to Tuscany, backed by steep hills and facing the sparkling Ligurian Sea. For such a small region it packs in a lot: glitzy resorts, colourful fishing villages, medieval hill towns and terraced vineyards are all within easy reach of each other by train. The capital, Genoa, is a gritty but fascinating port city with a maze‑like old town, grand palazzi and a powerful maritime heritage that has helped shape both Italian and European history. On the eastern Riviera, the world‑famous Cinque Terre lures visitors with pastel‑coloured villages clinging to cliffs above the sea. Walking trails link Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, serving up unforgettable coastal views at every bend. Close by, Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure offer a more polished, resort‑style feel, with elegant seafront promenades, chic shops and tucked‑away coves that are perfect for a swim or a sail. Inland, quieter valleys hide ancient stone hamlets, chestnut woods and scenic routes for walkers and cyclists. The western Riviera, or Riviera di Ponente, is known for its long sandy beaches and Belle Époque villas. Towns such as Sanremo, Alassio and Finale Ligure have a relaxed seaside atmosphere that suits families and sun‑seekers, while the rocky stretches between them conceal snorkelling spots and peaceful, crystal‑clear bays. History buffs can head for medieval villages like Dolceacqua and Apricale, where tight alleys, stone bridges and hilltop castles provide a striking contrast to the livelier coast. Food is one of the real joys of a trip to Liguria. The region is the home of basil pesto, traditionally bashed in a marble mortar and served with trofie or trenette pasta. Focaccia – plain, or topped with onions, olives or cheese – is an everyday staple, best eaten warm from the bakery. Along the coast, fresh fish and seafood dominate, while inland trattorias serve hearty vegetable pies, chickpea farinata and local wines such as Vermentino and Pigato. Whether you’re out hiking, swimming, or simply strolling through its colourful lanes, Liguria gives you an authentic slice of Italian coastal life with a character all of its own.
