Vila Nova de Gaia este un oraș din Regiunea de Nord a Portugaliei care alcătuiește Zona Metropolitană din Porto (orașul Porto este exact opus). Cu 302.092 de locuitori este al doilea oraș ca mărime din țară după numărul de locuitori. Acesta este situat pe malul stâng al râului Douro. În Gaia găsiți cramele de vin Port. Acesta este împărțit în 24 cartiere. Municipalitatea se limitează la nord cu Oporto, la nord-est de Gondomar, la sud de Santa Maria da Feira și Espinho și la vest are coasta Oceanului Atlantic. Are plaje nisipoase cum ar fi Granja, Aguda, Miramar, Valadares etc.
