The city is near several other cities, such as San Pedro de Macorís and the national capital, Santo Domingo de Guzmán. The city is a hub for a growing tourist industry with several nearby local resort spots, such as the beachfront Bayahibe, Dominicus, Casa de Campo, and the growing number of golf resorts that surround the area. A very popular way of getting around the town is through riding motor bikes as well as gua guas that's another name for buses. You must visit Altos de Chavon, this "village" was done replicating the 15th century colonial architectural style. Has many restaurants, a museum with Taino artifacts, breath-taking view of the Chavon River. This is a charming replica of the Italian village that was built by a man as a gift for his daughter. Also, artists ranging from Sinatra to Cocoband have performed at its large amphitheatre.

"Saint Martin is an island in the northeast Caribbean, approximately 300 km east of Puerto Rico. It is the smallest inhabited sea island divided between two nations, the division dates to 1648. The southern Dutch part comprises Sint Maarten and is one of four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The northern French part comprises the Collectivité de Saint-Martin (Collectivity of St. Martin) and is an overseas collectivity of France. The most importants places to see in Saint Martin are the Butterfly farm, stroll through hundreds of colorful butterflies under a tented mesh and the Pic du Paradis, is the highest point on the island with two viewing areas that provide great views. Also beaches are a main attraction on the island of Saint Martin, it has 37 beaches total one particularly famous beach is Maho Bay beach on the "Dutch side".
