L'île de Faial est une île portugaise du groupe central des Açores. Le volcan Capelinhos, le point le plus occidental de l'île, pourrait aussi bien être le point le plus occidental de l'Europe. L'île est également appelée Ilha Azul, d'après les écrits du poète portugais Raul Brandão, en raison de la grande quantité d'hortensias qui fleurissent pendant les mois d'été.
