Guadeloupe, located southeast of Puerto Rico, is a group of islands in the eastern Caribbean that is actually part of France. Nicknamed Butterfly Island because of the shape of two of its main islands, the Guadeloupe archipelago is home to a spectacular underwater world. Guadeloupe’s two principal islands are Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre. Basse-Terre is less touristy and is home to Guadeloupe National Park, which features a lush rainforest, a large volcano, and many waterfalls.
