It is situated 22 kilometers from Denpasar, the provincial capital of Bali, and is governed under the South Kuta District. The name Nusa Dua translates to 'two islands' (nusa meaning 'island', dua meaning 'two'), as it encompasses two islands within the Bali Tourism Development Corporation area. Peninsula Island is located on the southern side, while the smaller, more shaded Nusa Dharma Island is on the northern side, home to the Pura/Temple Nusa Dharma.
