Day 3
ketchikan, alaska
Arrival: 06:00 - Departure: 16:00
Ketchikan is a city and the borough seat of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough in Alaska. It is the state's southeasternmost major settlement, and its downtown is listed as a National Historic District. At the 2010 census, the city had a population of 8,050, making it the fifth-most populous city in Alaska and the tenth-most populous community when census-designated places are included. The surrounding borough—which includes suburbs north and south of the city along the Tongass Highway, as well as small rural settlements accessible mostly by water—had a population of 13,477 in the same census, with U.S. Census estimates placing the 2019 population at 13,901. Incorporated on August 25, 1900, Ketchikan is the oldest existing incorporated city in Alaska, as consolidation or unification elsewhere in the state dissolved other city governments. Located on Revillagigedo Island—named in 1793 by Captain George Vancouver—Ketchikan takes its name from Ketchikan Creek, which flows through town into Tongass Narrows. The word “Ketchikan” derives from the Tlingit name for the creek, Kitschk-hin, a term of uncertain meaning that may translate to “the river belonging to Kitschk” or “Thundering Wings of an Eagle.” In modern Tlingit, the name is Kichx̱áan.

Arrival: 07:00 - Departure: 11:00
Tracy Arm is a fjord in Alaska near Juneau (outlet at 57°46′40″N 133°37′00″W). It is named after U.S. Secretary of the Navy Benjamin Franklin Tracy. The fjord lies about 45 miles (72 km) south of Juneau and 70 miles (110 km) north of Petersburg, Alaska, off Holkham Bay and adjacent to Stephens Passage within the Tongass National Forest. Tracy Arm is the core of the Tracy Arm–Fords Terror Wilderness, designated by the United States Congress in 1990. Tracy Arm–Fords Terror Wilderness covers 653,179 acres (2,643.32 km²) and consists of two deep, narrow fjords: Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm. Both fjords are over 30 miles (48 km) long, and about one-fifth of their area is covered in ice.
