Skagen (pronounced "skay-gen" in Danish) is the northernmost town in Denmark, located on the east coast of the Skagen Odde peninsula in the far north of Jutland. It's part of the Frederikshavn Municipality in Nordjylland, 25 miles north of Frederikshavn and 67 miles northeast of Aalborg. The Port of Skagen is Denmark's primary fishing port and also boasts a thriving tourism industry, drawing 2 million visitors each year. Skagen is the best place in Denmark for birdwatching, with a total of 367 out of the country's 471 bird species found here (as of 2017). Birdwatchers from all over Denmark, as well as from Sweden, Norway, and Germany, visit the area around Skagen, especially Grenen, throughout the year. The peak times for birdwatching are in April-May and early June, with a smaller influx in August-November. Popular birdwatching spots include Ellekrattet, Nordstrand (near Batterivej), Skagen Harbour, and Flagbakken southwest of the town, as well as the horse fields and brushwood near Fyrvej, Bøjlevejen, and Buttervej. The Skagen Bird Observatory monitors bird migration on Grenen every day of the year from the highest sand dune, known as "The World's End," located between the parking lot and Grenen. Skagen is also known for its artistic community, which contributes significantly to the local economy and job market. Art and crafts are sold in galleries like the Galerie Skagen on Trondsvej. Sankt Laurentii Vej, a main street away from the harbor area, is famous for its glass and pottery shops, including Skagen Glasvaerksted, known for some of Jutland's finest glass pieces, and Skagen Potteri. The town also has a variety of other shops, including those selling jewelry, clothing, shoes, handbags, souvenirs, flowers, and gardening equipment. Food stores include butchers, bakers, a cheese shop, fishmongers, and numerous restaurants and cafes. Skagen has a 11,000 square foot branch of the EuroSpar supermarket, which opened in 1998. Skagen Cementstøberi A/S is a local cement company that produces concrete, paving stones, tiles, granite, and other items.

Stavanger is the fourth largest city in Norway and has recently emerged as the country's oil capital. Despite the rapid expansion due to North Sea exploration, Stavanger has successfully preserved its old-world charm while providing all the amenities of a modern city. The central area around Vågen harbor is typically bustling with activity, especially during the summer. There are numerous bars, cafes, and dining spots. The old town, Gamle Stavanger, is a beautiful collection of traditional Norse-style houses. The historic center of Stavanger houses several artisan workshops and the Norwegian Canning Museum. It is said that there are 173 white cottages from the 1800s in this area, making it the largest surviving wooden house settlement in northern Europe. The magnificent Stavanger Cathedral is located right in the center of the city, between the main harbor and Breiavatnet Lake. The overall style is Romanesque, but the eastern side is distinctly Gothic, complete with all the specific elements. The Norsk Oljemuseum, with its intriguing architecture, is located in an impressive building by the harbor and provides a history of oil in the North Sea and an insight into the industry. Beyond the central area, there are numerous parks, open spaces, and bike paths to explore the stunning local scenery. Stavanger itself offers plenty to do, with its own theater, museums, and concert hall. During the summer, various festivals are held and the city center is abuzz with activity.

Flåm is a village in the municipality of Aurland, in the province of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. It is located at the end of the Aurlandsfjord, which is in turn an arm of the Sognefjord. The town of Flåm has been a popular tourist destination since the late 19th century. It currently receives approximately 450,000 visitors a year. Major attractions include the fjord boat trip and the Flåmsbana, a 20km train between Flåm and Myrdal, being one of the most uneven railways in the world (including several spirals). An old train station houses a museum dedicated to Flåmsbana. The Rallarvegen route, linking Haugastøl with Voss, is also one of the main tourist attractions, especially for cyclists. Access by car to Flåm can be done by the European route E16 connecting Oslo and Bergen.
