Belize is a country on the eastern coast of Central America. This country has a lot to offer, from the lush jungles with exotic plants and animals inland to the white-sand beaches of its islands. Relaxation, outdoor adventure, diving, culture – you can fit it all into a week. Belize is renowned for its Mayan heritage, with some of the best-excavated Mayan temples and cities in Central America.
Actun Tunichil Muknal is a Mayan sacrificial burial site near Belmopan, the country’s capital. The site lies entirely within a cave system. Once a sacred place for the Maya, it contains many examples of pottery, ceramics and stoneware, as well as several sets of human sacrificial remains. Near Belmopan you’ll also find Guanacaste National Park, a tropical forest with a vast array of wild flora and fauna, especially the many tropical birds that live where Roaring Creek flows into the larger Belize River.
Belize is an excellent destination if you want to escape hectic city life and lose yourself in unspoilt nature. In Belize, time moves more slowly – just soak up its forests and beaches and enjoy the simple life.

Day 6
bimini, bahamas
Arrival: 10:30
-
Departure: 17:00
Bimini is the westernmost district of the Bahamas, made up of a chain of islands about 80 kilometres due east of Miami. It’s the closest point in the Bahamas to the mainland United States, lying roughly 210 kilometres west‑northwest of Nassau. As of the 2010 census, the population is 1,988.
Bimini has three islands: North Bimini, South Bimini and East Bimini. The largest are North and South Bimini. The main settlement is Alice Town, a cluster of shops, restaurants and bars along a road known as the King’s Highway. A second main road, Queen’s Highway, runs almost the length of the island parallel to King’s Highway.
South Bimini has an airstrip, South Bimini Airport, and offers a quieter alternative to the gentle bustle of North Bimini. There’s a small residential community on South Bimini called Port Royale. For many years, visitors to South Bimini were mostly boaters, as there were few places to stay apart from private homes.
Because Bimini is close to Miami, Florida, many American anglers come over by boat to fish or enjoy the local nightlife. Scuba diving and snorkelling are also popular, with many shipwrecks in the area, including the wreck of the SS Sapona, which ran aground during a hurricane in 1926. The top of the ship remains above water while the lower half is submerged. Parts of the wreck have been salvaged over the years, and some of the timber was used in building the Compleat Angler Hotel and bar on North Bimini.
