It is also the main town in the canton of Saint-Tropez and is located on the French Riviera. After the war, it became an internationally known seaside resort, mainly because of the influx of artists from the French New Wave in cinema and the Yé-yé movement in music. It later became a playground for the European and American jet set, as well as a destination for tourists looking for a bit of Provençal authenticity and the chance of spotting a celebrity. During the first week of July, an international polo tournament is held, attracting many of the world’s best polo players to the Saint-Tropez Polo Club.

The city has several exceptional museums, such as the Musée Matisse, dedicated to the work of French painter Henri Matisse, or the Musée National Marc Chagall, dedicated to the work of painter Marc Chagall. The majestic Promenade des Anglais sweeps along the coast. This pedestrian area is teeming with boutiques, bustling restaurants and all sorts of tourists. The nightlife in Nice is vibrant, the maze of tiny streets in the vieille ville hides restaurants and bars, and contributes to the city’s Mediterranean charm.
