This hotel is situated some 700 m from Basel old town and the cathedral. Public transport lies right in front of the building. In addition, guests are only around 300 m from a selection of shops. Basel Zoo lies around 500 m away, Basel airport is a mere 7 km away and Zurich airport is roughly 90 km from the hotel. Renovated in 2014 (Lobby and Breakfast room) and in 2016 (rooms), this comfortable city hotel comprises a total of 46 rooms spread over 8 floors. Facilities within the air-conditioned building include a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, a safe, a lift, a currency exchange desk, a breakfast room and a free WiFi access. It is possible to take advantage of the laundry service as well as the car parking facilities (CHF 20. - per car/night, please reserve in advance). In the modern and bright "Petit Salon" a PC with free internet access is available. This area invites also for small meetings or for guests to linger. Furthermore, free WiFi is available in the whole hotel. The comfortable rooms each come with an en suite bathroom, a hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, HD satellite TV with more than 100 international channels, an Internet connection, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker and a free bottle of water. Central heating features as standard in the carpeted rooms as well as air conditioning. Guests are able to choose their breakfast from a large buffet. Between 6. 30am and 10. 30pm you can check in and out daily at the reception of the Hotel Metropol. Of course, our Metropol reception is also available for all your other needs, questions and wishes. Beyond the opening hours of our reception at night, between 10. 30pm and 6. 30am, you are welcome to use the personal service of the hotel reception of the affiliated Hotel Euler or the check-in machines.

Empfehlenswert.

Das Hotel ist super gelegen, direkt um die Ecke vom SBB Bahnhof und nur ein paar Minuten zu Fuß von der Altstadt entfernt. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, was bei den Schweizern allerdings nicht wundert, da sie die Freundlichkeit in sich zu haben scheinen. Mein Zimmer war geräumig und sauber. Frühstück war gut. Für ein 4-Sterne-Hotel vielleicht etwas minimalistisch, aber gut. Es handelt sich wohl um ein Hotel älteren Baujahrs, aber mein Zimmer war alles andere als verwohnt. Nichts kaputt, keine Mängel und wohl auch erst vor kurzem modernisiert. Alles in allem sehr schön.

Sehr zentral, wenige Meter zum Bahnhof, zur Tram nur 2min, mit der ist man schnell überall, sehr hilfsbereites und freundliches Personal , leckeres Frühstück mit tollem Ausblick.

A really good stay. The station is in a really good location near the station and a minute walk from the tram. Staff were really friendly and everything was neat and comfortable.
