کاپادوکیه, ترکیه

کاپادوکیه منطقه ای تاریخی در آناتولی مرکزی است که عمدتاً در استان های نوشهیر، قیصری، کرشهیر، آکسارای و نیغده در ترکیه قرار دارد. به گفته هرودوت[1] در زمان شورش ایونیا (499 ق.م) گزارش شده است که کاپادوکیان منطقه ای از کوه توروس تا مجاورت اوکسین (دریای سیاه) را اشغال کرده بودند. کاپادوکیه از این نظر از جنوب به رشته کوه های توروس که آن را از کیلیکیه جدا می کند، از شرق به فرات علیا، از شمال به پونتوس و از غرب به لیکائونیا و غلاطیه شرقی محدود می شد.[2] ] این نام که به طور سنتی در منابع مسیحی در طول تاریخ استفاده می‌شود، به عنوان یک مفهوم گردشگری بین‌المللی برای تعریف منطقه‌ای از شگفتی‌های طبیعی استثنایی، به ویژه با دودکش‌های پری و میراث تاریخی و فرهنگی منحصربه‌فرد، همچنان به کار می‌رود.
