Can Picafort, Mallorca Spain

Can Picafort is a tourist resort on the Bay of Alcúdia. Between Port d'Alcudia in the north of the bay and Can Picafort, there is a five-kilometer-long sandy beach lined with hotels. The protected Albufera swamp borders about 2 kilometers of the bay and prevents the two tourist resorts from merging. The 8-square-kilometer wilderness is a good alternative to the tourist areas and can be explored by renting bikes. Can Picafort is well set up for tourism, and the beach promenade offers many bars and restaurants. You can shop during the day and stroll through the pedestrian area in the evening. Can Picafort isn’t just popular during peak season. Off-peak, however, it is considerably quieter and many businesses close. Already in the 1990s, the population here exceeded that of the main town, Santa Margalida, and the town has become an important place of residence. Major infrastructure can also be found here. From the neighborhood of Son Bauló you can reach the necropolises of Son Real and, on a nearby island, S’Illa d’en Porros. Both are remains of the Talaiot culture from the early history of Majorca. From there, a coastal hiking path leads to Son Serra de Marina.
