Opatija is a town in western Croatia, just southwest of Rijeka on the Adriatic coast. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • The Angiolina Park – the building that marked the beginning of the town’s tourist era. • St. James’s Park – a protected horticultural monument, divided into 60 sections and home to around 159 plant species. • The Helios and Selena Fountain – located in a beautiful park opposite the Imperial Hotel, near St. James’s Church. • Maiden with the Seagull – the town’s most famous seaside statue and symbol of Opatija. • St. James’s Church – a historic church in the centre of the town. • Monument to Friedrich Julius Schüller – a monument dedicated to one of the pioneers of tourism in Opatija.
