Terceira Island, Azores Portugal

Terceira Island is part of the Azores archipelago in Portugal. Its name comes from it being the third island to be discovered in the archipelago, following Santa Maria and San Miguel. Without a doubt, Terceira Island is the most entertaining in the Azores. If there's one thing its inhabitants are known for, it's their love of a good party, as well as their fondness for music, dancing and fine wine. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy diving with octopuses at the Octopus Diving Centre, abseiling down spectacular waterfalls with Rope Adventures, or going on cycling or kayaking trips. Wine aficionados will appreciate the wine museum, where they can sample the best wines from the island's vineyards. Nature lovers should make a point of visiting the Botanical Park do Duque da Terceira, filled with palm trees, magnolias and countless exotic species. Lastly, a must-visit is Monte Brasil, where you can enjoy stunning views of the city, as well as a recreational park at the entrance for children to enjoy. Terceira Island is certainly an ideal spot for a family holiday.
