Marinha Grande Portugal

Marinha Grande is a municipality in the Leiria District of Portugal. In 2011 it had a population of 38,681 and covers an area of 187.25 km². The town itself has a population of about 30,000. It sits in the middle of the 700‑year‑old Leiria Pine Forest, which covers around 100 km², and is close to excellent beaches such as Praia da Vieira, Nazaré and São Pedro de Moel. The current mayor is Cidália Ferreira, from the Socialist Party. The municipal holiday is Ascension Day.
