"Saint Martin is an island in the northeast Caribbean, approximately 300 km east of Puerto Rico. It is the smallest inhabited sea island divided between two nations, the division dates to 1648. The district with the same name had a population of 70,000 on 22 May 2013 and stretches over an area of 80 km2 (31 sq mi). Castries is in a flood plain and is built on reclaimed land. It houses the seat of government and the head offices of many foreign and local businesses. Its sheltered harbor receives cargo vessels, ferry boats, and cruise ships.
