Marinha Grande Portugal

Marinha Grande is a municipality in the Leiria District of Portugal. In 2011 it had a population of 38,681 and covers an area of 187.25 km². The city itself has about 30,000 inhabitants. It is located in the middle of the 700-year-old Leiria Pine Forest, which covers about 100 square kilometers, and is close to excellent beaches such as Praia da Vieira, Nazaré, and São Pedro de Moel. The current mayor is Cidália Ferreira of the Socialist Party. The municipal holiday is Ascension Day.
