Caldas da Rainha is a city in western central Portugal. Absent from most itineraries of international visitors, however charming, Caldas da Rainha is an excellent place to experience true Portugal without hordes of tourists. Caldas offers visitors countless experiences to enjoy: a beautiful park, a bustling farmers market, museums, shops, appetizing restaurants, and nearby beaches. Caldas da Rainha is an artistic city, works of art and is not limited to its various museums. Caldas main park contains many statues and sculptures, like most of the city's roundabouts. The city is home to a university of art and design, as well as a professional school dedicated to ceramics. Caldas center has excellent examples of Art Nouveau architecture, with beautiful exteriors with title. You can even take home art that, in the world-renowned ceramic creations of Bordallo Pinheiro factory. Caldas da Rainha experiences a "warm Mediterranean summer" climate, sometimes called "cool-Mediterranean summer". Caldas da Rainha is a compact city. Although it is located in a mountainous region, most of the hills within the city are accessible by people of moderate physical condition. In the center of the city, the sidewalks tend to be very narrow, sometimes near non-existent. The center of the city offers several streets without cars, usually with shopping opportunities.
